Baby sign language

February 21, 2008 at 4:38 pm 2 comments

This morning on the local morning news they did a segment on babies learning sign language. It was an interesting idea. Babies learn sign language the same way that they learn to speak, but babies can perform sign language at as early as 4 months.

The segment showed children signing: please, thank you, more, eat, hurt, and drink. It was amazing to watch these children signing. It was obvious that they actually understood what they were doing and that by making these signs they could get what they wanted.

This sign language idea is one more reason to take DHA along with your prenatal vitamins while nursing. DHA can improve infant attention span and brain development.

Baby sign language is amazing. My daughter knows over 250 signs. She’s 21 months now, so she starting to speak, even in full sentences, but her words aren’t always clear. The signing is still amazingly helpful.
